Lancashire seaside communities set for £10m investment
Regenda Homes is set to plough £10m into four estates across Fleetwood, Lancashire.
The housing association is embarking on a five-year project to improve the external appearance and insulation of 600 homes in Flakefleet, Broadwater, Westview and Warren Farm.
Regenda will replace old cavity wall insulation, found to be unsuitable in the long term by an independent report, with the newer external wall insulation method.
The properties’ external appearance will then be enhanced with new cladding.
Regenda’s in-house contractor, M&Y Maintenance and Construction, has been tasked with carrying out the work, which could improve each household’s energy efficiency, reduce heating bills and minimise condensation issues.
The independent report also found a number of properties to be no longer fit for purpose. Regenda said it will support affected residents by providing compensation and helping them secure new homes.
Executive director of customer services at Regenda Homes, Stephanie Harrison, said: “As an organisation we are committed to investing in our communities and ensuring our residents live in homes of the highest standard.
“Along with improving the external appearance of our homes, the programme will have major health benefits and will help reduce incidents of fuel poverty.”
Regenda owns 1,523 properties in Fleetwood.
