Primesite to create £40m residential ‘landmark’ in Liverpool Knowledge Quarter
Property investor Primesite Developments Ltd has unveiled plans for a new multi-million pound residential project in Liverpool’s £2bn Knowledge Quarter.
The £40m scheme, called The Rise, will occupy a previously derelict site on Low Hill near the Royal Liverpool Hospital, at the Knowledge Quarter’s northern boundary.
Primesite Developments is having the land cleared to make way for a U-shaped building it believes will become a distinct visual landmark for those travelling along on West Derby Road, one of the main approaches to the city centre.
With planning permission already in place, the finished development will comprise a mix of 146 student units and 246 private homes.
The site’s ground floor will house non-residential areas, including co-working space, a laundrette and management offices.
Primesite director Bobbie Johnson said: “As a local business, this opportunity to have a positive impact on the regeneration of the area is very important to us.
“By creating a new residential building on a previously derelict, eyesore site, we hope to improve housing options for both workers and students.”
Bobbie added: “The Rise is designed to fit in with its unusual mixture of surroundings – a main junction, housing, an industrial estate, and gardens – to become a landmark that is part of the fabric of Liverpool.”
Last month, Primesite started work on a £26m project to transform a previously disused office complex in Liverpool city centre into Strand Plaza, a residential development of more than 100 new homes.
