Flypay’s frictionless payment tech to be rolled out across 1,700 UK pubs and restaurants
London-based payments firm Flypay will see its frictionless payments platform rolled out across 1,700 pubs, bars and restaurants after entering into a partnership with one of the UK’s biggest hospitality operators.
The startup is to work with Mitchells & Butlers, which runs a vast array of brands including Harvester, Sizzling Pubs and Miller & Carter, to roll out its Flyt platform across M&B’s brands giving customers a range of tech-enabled payment options.
In a release announcing the partnership, Flypay said that the agreement will see its services, including its bar tab technology and pay at table service, which allows diners to pay for their meal using their smartphone, developed across M&B’s portfolio dependent on the requirements of each brand.
The startup already works with the likes of Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Wahaca to power their apps which provide payment options and loyalty schemes for customers.
Chris Hopkins, Commercial and Marketing Director, M&B, hailed the flexibility of Flypay’s offering and the opportunity to introduce real digital innovation across its estate.
He said: “Digital innovation opens up many possibilities to enhance customer experience and improve the efficiency of our operations. We’re delighted to have Flypay as a partner.
“The Flyt platform offers a breadth of services and crucially provides real flexibility for each of our brands across our estate.”
Tom Weaver, CEO, Flypay, added: “Our integrations through the Flyt platform will dramatically streamline M&B’s operations, increasing efficiencies, whilst most importantly, responding to customer needs.
“We are really excited to be playing such a crucial role in this journey with M&B, who will be the largest operator in the UK, (based on number of sites), to adopt next generation mobile payment technology.”
This latest agreement follows a breakthrough 12 months for the startup after it raised £3.5m from Just Eat and announced a string of deals with the likes of Deliveroo and Nando’s.
