Leeds architectural practice wins £2.5m contract for Hyde warehouse

Leeds-based architecture practice, Martin Walsh Architectural (MWA), is celebrating after a multi-million pound contract win will see it developing a new manufacturing facility for British manufacturer Louvolite.

The firm has been awarded the £2.5m design contract for a new 1,450 sq m warehouse and a 2,884 sq m two-storey building based at Ashton Road in Hyde, Greater Manchester.

The facility will incorporate offices, a warehouse, a production facility as well as a state-of-the-art training and showroom showing off Louvolite’s range of window blind fabrics and systems. The design itself is to emulate the mill window openings that had been present on the site since 1920 before they were demolished back in 2011.

Radcliffe Construction are to carry out the build itself with the projects civil and structural engineers Melia Smith and Jones also hailing from Leeds.

Matthew Robinson, Technical Director for Martin Walsh Architectural comments: “We were really excited to have been awarded the contract with Louvolite and that the proposed facility has now been given the green light.

“Louvolite is an innovative manufacturer, with an enviable reputation; we’re certainly proud to be supporting their expansion and to be a part of their journey.”
