Tech recruiter hunting for new generation of Googlers raises $8.8m
Talent.io, the French recruitment platform that launched in London last year, has closed an $8.8m (approx £6.8m) funding round in its biggest capital raise yet.
The startup, which was founded in Paris in 2015, has received investment from existing investors Alven Capital and Ventech as it looks to further increase its market share in its home market and in its more recent London and Berlin markets.
Its selective recruitment system works by asking computer engineers and other tech professionals to sign up to its platform when they are on the hunt for a new job.
Talent.io’s team then handpicks the best sign ups based on skills and availability and and then allows companies to interact with the prospective candidates during a two-week session.
Firms and candidates can then swap jobs descriptions, salary expectations and arrange interviews through Talent.io’s platform, with the startup’s staff on hand to provide advice and guidance throughout the process.
According to TechCrunch, which first reported the round, the recruitment platform currently services 2,000 tech companies in Paris; however, the figure is much lower in London at around 200 firms in each market, having only recently launched in the city last November.
However, the combination of this latest funding round plus the imminent tech jobs boom with the likes of Google, Facebook and Apple, all expanding their presence in the capital, the startup looks well placed to grow its market share further.
Commenting on the initial launch of the platform in London last year, John Hazelton, who is Country Manager for the UK, explained the platform’s appeal.
He said: “Our platform is designed to take the pain out of hiring people. No more middlemen, no more time wasting and no more irrelevant candidates.
“We are human-centric too; we are not a sales team focused on getting our numbers up and we don’t use algorithms to select candidates. talent.io is made up of engineering industry experts who put the customer service back into recruitment.
“We bring quality job offers to quality developers because we truly understand their needs and wants. Traditional recruitment agencies are very focused on client care and focus very little on the candidates. This model is failing the IT industry, and we are seeing a big shift towards our model.”
