New Francesco Mazzei eatery confirmed for Battersea

Italian chef Francesco Mazzei is to open a new Italian restaurant at one of London’s marquee mixed-use developments this summer.

Mazzei is opening Fiume, described as a new modern Italian restaurant, at the Battersea Power Station development, making it the chef’s third new eatery in the capital since 2015.

Incorporated within the first phase of the massive £9bn development, the new restaurant will sit next to the Thames as part of Circus West village, including 120 covers and interiors designed by Macaulay Sinclair.

The restaurant will also include a bar counter for 15 covers and an al fresco dining terrace for up to 50 diners.

Fiume, which joins Mazzei’s Savile Row venue Sartoria and Radici in Islington, will be open for lunch and dinner with the day-to-day running of the kitchen handled by Head Chef, Francesco Chiarelli. Mazzei will oversee the new venue as Chef Patron.

Mazzei has said that plans for the massive development at the iconic power station and surrounding areas convinced him of the need to open his latest site in the capital.

He said: “When I saw the plans for Circus West Village and Battersea Power Station as a whole, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to be involved. It is a one-of-a-kind project that will attract people from all over the world and I cannot wait to feed them all!”

Rob Tincknell, Chief Executive Officer of the Battersea Power Station Development Company, added: “Francesco Mazzei is an amazing chef with a strong track record and we are delighted that he has chosen Circus West Village at Battersea Power Station to unveil his new concept restaurant.

“It will add to the wide selection of food offerings, bars, and other businesses that will make this area such an incredible place to live, work or visit.”
