Forbidden Technologies has secured its first eSports contract

London-based Forbidden Technologies has secured its first contract within the booming eSports industry after agreeing a deal with one of the sector’s key gaming promoters.

The company, which provides professional-level video production through its Forscene platform, has entered into an agreement with Gfinity to support its social video and video archiving efforts.

Also based out of London, Gfinity has established itself as one of the major players in eSports promotion, hosting its own tournaments as well as supporting brands in hosting their own competitions for games such as FIFA, Call of Duty and Counter-Strike.

Gfinity Chief Gaming Officer, Paul Kent said that the firm had been on the look out for social and tech solutions to improve its reach and engagement as it looks to capitalise on continued growth in the sector.

He said: “Faster publishing of live events into social media and better overall use of the video content we produce is vital for us. Forscene fills a gap in capabilities that we have been looking to solve.”

With revenues set to exceed $696m in 2017 according to market intelligence firm Newzoo, Forbidden Technologies Chairman, David Main believes eSports poses a significant area of potential growth for the business.

He commented: “The eSports market is an exciting new high growth sports category for us. Our Forscene cloud video platform provides a range of core capabilities, including live clipping for social media and exploiting the value of archive content for this innovative and demanding new sector.

“Our range of applications helps address the range of video requirements for fan engagement.”
