Specialist education recruiter secures investment to ‘fast-track’ business growth plans
Academic Appointments Ltd, the specialist education recruitment firm has secured financial support from Leeds-based investment fund Solingen.
Founded by Mo Parkin in 2004, Academic Appointments currently provides services to schools across Yorkshire via offices in Leeds and Doncaster.
Over the past few years, the business has diversified to provide all school-based requirements on a temporary, contract and permanent basis.
Pete Riley, currently a director of the business, has been promoted to managing director, while founder Mo Parkin will now take the role of executive chairperson.
Mo Parkin said: “As the founder of Academic Appointments, I’m very proud of how the business has grown into what we see today. That’s down to the incredible team of people here, as well as the fantastic teachers, support staff and schools that work with us.
“I am delighted to be staying with the business in a more strategic role as part of the next exciting chapter. This investment means we will be able to fast-track our ambitious growth plans, adding further dimension to our services and creating a larger geographical footprint.”
Paul Betts, director at Leeds-based Solingen, commented: “We look forward to partnering with Pete and his team at Academic Appointments to support their growth plans.
“This is exactly the type of successful, local business where we believe Solingen can add value by providing equity growth finance and strategic support to management.”
Pete Riley, incoming managing director, added: “The future is bright, and Academic Appointments is definitely the place to be in terms of opportunity and career development.”
The deal was brokered through KBS Corporate with legal support provided by Gateley PLC and Gordons LLP Solicitors.
Academic Appointments continues to be supported by its long term banking partner Yorkshire Bank, which received legal advice from Eversheds.
In addition Solingen received advice from Ryecroft Glenton, RPL and Stratton HR.
