The Old Windmill proves a staycation winner

Britain’s love of the ‘staycation’ shows no signs of slowing down, from mini-breaks to the annual weekly getaway, competition is fierce to find the next great getaway.

Thanks to a slide in the value of the pound against the euro and dollar, combined with predications of a mini heatwave for summer 2017, more people than ever will be looking for fun places to stay in the UK. Combining traditional charm and modern amenities, The Old Windmill at High Leven has been attracting visitors for almost 50 years. Following a stunning revamp the site now boasts private double rooms with private hot tubs, cosy bar and relaxing en-suite rooms. Other amenities include a full English breakfast and free wi-fi.

Speaking about what keeps guests coming back to The Old Windmill co-owner, Zoe Walton, said: “People’s daily lives are getting more stressful, and budgets are tighter; Due to this we’ve seen a marked increase in the number of guests saying they prefer to break up their holidays into a series of smaller mini-breaks, instead of the traditional two-weeks away.

“The Old Windmill is a perfect base for everything from a short family break, to a weekend with the girls to a romantic couple’s escape.

“As well as the boutique and quirky appeal of the hotel itself, our location is ideal for enjoying a wide-variety of activities Teesside has to offer. These include the superb bars and shops of Yarm, the renowned leisure facilities at Stockton’s Riverside and the arty appeal of Middlesbrough’s museums and galleries. There really is something for everyone!”
