Bolton accountancy firm Gorilla launches new umbrella business for contractors
Gorilla Accounting, the accounting firm for contractors and freelancers, has launched a new umbrella business targeting flexible workers.
The Bolton-based company said its new venture, Gorilla Payroll, will offer the self-employed an alternative operating solution.
The launch follows changes to legislation announced by Chancellor Philip Hammond in the Spring Budget, whereby the IR35 status of public sector contractors (PSCs) will now be determined by the public-sector body, not the contractor.
Gorilla Payroll’s main function will be to manage income tax and National Insurance contributions, in addition to providing employment rights not traditionally afforded to contractors.
The firm said it will enable contractors to run their contract through its payroll service, effectively making them an employee of the umbrella company functioning as an intermediary between the contractor and the end-client.
Daniel Fallows, Gorilla Payroll director, commented: “The latest changes in the sector, as announced in the Spring Budget, are massively affecting the way contractors operate, especially those in the public sector.
“We are welcoming change and adapting our service offering to provide the best possible solution to flexible workers across the country.”
As a result of the expansion, the firm is expecting to hire new members of staff. Gorilla Accounting already employs a team of over 25.
