This eyewear brand is planning to sell 18 carat gold spectacles in St James's

Designer eyewear brand, Cubitts, has announced it has agreed to take a unit in St James’s after taking a lease for a new store on Jermyn Street from The Crown Estate.

The spectacles and sunglasses maker has agreed to take a unit at 68 Jermyn Street in St James’s which will be its fourth physical store for the brand which was founded back in 2012 in King’s Cross.

Opening in July, the new store will focus on premium bespoke handmade eyewear, and will be the only place that consumers can purchase Cubitts Gold, their made-to-measure 18 carat rolled gold spectacles manufactured at the Algha Works, the UK’s oldest spectacles factory.

In addition, the new bricks and mortar outlet offer full eye testing facilities to customers with a working optician as well as offering bespoke services to local residents and office occupiers.

Tom Broughton, founder of Cubitts, commented: “Our aim has to been to revive London’s rich optical heritage. And we’re tremendously excited to launch our St James’s practice with a range of firsts; our first Spectacles Atelier, Cubitts Gold and our cutting edge facial scanning technology, all supported with thorough eye health examinations for the St James’s community.”
