1000 tech jobs to be created with Cheshire-based Hut Group’s latest acquisition

Online health and beauty retailer and brand owner The Hut Group Limited (THG) is expecting to create hundreds of new jobs after acquiring hosting company UK-2 Limited from private equity firm LDC.

Cheshire-headquartered THG said the deal will provide it with high-performance infrastructure “at a global scale”, enhancing its ability to deliver extremely fast online experiences worldwide.

Further, the acquisition has raised THG’s technology staff headcount to over 600.

THG said it now plans to invest heavily in UK2’s management team and employee base to grow the firm’s key brands, including hosting provider 100TB.

The company will also offer UK2’s services to its existing tech clients, including games giant Nintendo, manufacturer Unilever and automaker Honda.

The Hut Group’s founder and CEO, Matthew Moulding, said: “This is a significant technology investment to support our growth plans and provide a world class proprietary ecommerce platform and infrastructure to increase capacity, speed and resilience for our global customer base.

“We are delighted to welcome UK2 and their highly skilled technology-based team of people to THG. The move will also see UK2 become a core part of our Technology proposition within the THG Platform Division, helping us achieve our ambition of becoming a world class platform for technology clients.”

He added: “We expect this to be the start of further significant investment in UK technology with a further 1,000 new technology jobs planned over the next three years.”
