Bakery Is On A Roll With 30ft Masterpiece

In celebration of National Sausage Roll Day on Monday June 5, a local family bakery has decided to mark the occasion by hosting an event to give away 100 free sausage rolls to its customers.

Stacey’s Bakery, which has shops located in Ilkeston, Heanor and Eastwood, will be giving away the free sausage rolls on a first come first served basis at each of its shops on National Sausage Roll Day, and will also be making a 30ft sausage roll at the llkeston-based bakery.

Once the giant sausage roll is baked, it will be displayed at the front of the shop and pieces will be given away to customers. All of the shops will also be selling sausage rolls for half price on the day once the free ones have been claimed.

David Stacey, director for the company, said: “We are excited to be celebrating the day with our customers and making the most of the occasion.

“We have been making sausage rolls for a long time and hope that this event will put a smile on our customers’ faces, especially since our sausage rolls are a popular treat.”

The bakery wants to encourage the local community to get involved by hosting a bake off style customer competition for the best piglet sausage roll. This style of sausage roll was famously made by Candice Brown, the winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off, and puts a fun spin on the traditional treat.

Photos of customers’ contributions will then be shared on the bakery’s Facebook, Instagram and Twitter feeds, later that day.

David added: “We would love for the local community to really get involved and enter the competition – it would be fantastic to see the different entries and share the results on social media for all of our customers to see.”
