TENSATOR® FLYING HIGH WITH EMIRATES AIR LINE CABLE CAR DEAL

Queue management specialist Tensator® is continuing to soar after securing a new contract with high-profile London landmark, the Emirates Air Line cable car.

As part of the new contract, Tensator® has provided 150 Tensabarriers® to guide visitors quickly and safely towards the card reader, and to create a perimeter around the entrance.

This follows the success of last year’s contract, whereby Tensator’s queuing system helped reduce waiting times during the busy summer months for Transport for London (TfL), which operates the cable car over the Thames.

Since opening in 2012, over 8 million visitors have boarded the Emirates Air Line, which runs between Greenwich Peninsula and Royal Victoria Dock, connecting major destinations such as The O2 and ExCeL London.

Tensator® also helped to make the destination more recognisable by incorporating Emirates’ red and white branding into the webbing of each barrier, which is also used to manage passenger flow.

Kevin Hickson, General Manager at Tensator®, said:

“Since the Emirates Air Line opened in 2012, people have been arriving in their droves to get a bird’s-eye view of the capital.

“This is a popular route for people who want to cross the Thames, but it is also a destination in its own right and attracts a high volume of people, particularly in the summer. The cabins arrive every 30 seconds so to maximise capacity and avoid unnecessary queuing, we needed to ensure that passengers could move quickly through the system.”

Simon Green, Commercial Manager at Emirates Air Line operator Mace Macro, adds:

“Whilst passenger safety and security is of paramount concern, it is important to ensure that the passenger journey remains as efficient as possible. The memories of tourists and commuters are created throughout their journey, so ensuring customers enjoy a positive experience from the moment they enter the queue is crucial.

“This queuing system ensures passengers are able to move through the line as quickly and as safely as possible.”

Tensator has worked with a number of visitor attractions and transport hubs including SEA LIFE London Aquarium and Luton Airport.
