Sil-Mid set to launch new vending innovation at AP&M

A specialist distributor of silicones, sealants, adhesives, lubricants and cleaning agents for the aerospace sector is set to unveil its latest innovation in contract managed services at AP&M Europe this week (31st May – 1st June).

Sil-Mid, which has over 6000 active products in its portfolio, will showcase a multi-purpose vending machine that gives airlines and maintenance specialists the opportunity to have complete control over access to critical consumables.

The company will be exhibiting at Stand B38 at the show, with delegates able to see the vendor managed system firsthand and how it can deliver improved productivity, secure stock materials, better organisation and reduced product wastage.

It follows a major surge in demand from aerospace customers looking to take advantage of contract services for tailored stock management.

“You can see why this is a growing trend as it basically saves time, saves resource, saves waste and saves cost,” explained Michelle Hoey, Sales Manager for Contract Services.

“Contract services can work for single-site customers and large corporate multi-site organisations, who require an extensive range of products in a variety of quantities. AP&M gives us the ideal opportunity to showcase - for the first time - our latest vending machine, that offers real time ordering and can be designed to stock the exact consumables required by the customer.”

She continued: “We’ll also have our aerospace experts on hand to meet with existing and potential clients keen to explore new supply agreements or discuss our recently expanded re-pack facility.”

Established in 1980, Sil-Mid has grown into one of the UK’s leading distributors of silicones, sealants, adhesives and lubricants.

The company operates from a 30,000 sq ft facility in the West Midlands and invests over £500,000 ever year on new stock management technology, a paperless warehouse and an industry-leading e-commerce website (www.silmid.com).

It currently offers products from than 400 vendors, including strategic distribution agreements with 3M, Arrow Solutions, Loctite, PPG and Rocol.

Michelle concluded: “Aerospace has always been a core market for our business and we’ve seen significant growth in sales in this area over the last twelve months.

“This is something we are looking to build on, whilst also exploring new opportunities arising in defence, a sector that benefits hugely from our speed and flexibility of supply.”

Sil-Mid will be extending an invitation to interested customers to enjoy a demonstration of the vending machine at its facility in Coleshill.
