Masters tournament delivers busy quarter for Trafford Golf Centre

Trafford Golf Centre is celebrating its busiest quarter to date.

The Trafford City-based facility saw 4.25 million golf balls hit between January 1 and April 30.

The figure, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, follows Trafford Golf Centre’s busiest trading day since it opened nearly 18 years ago.

On Saturday May 13, 66k golf balls were hit in less than 12 hours.

In addition to the record visitor numbers and golf ball hits, the firm’s on-site café managed to double turnover during Q1 2017.

Trafford Golf Centre’s director of golf, Peter Styles, said: “Trade in the early part of the year is typically quite slow and traditionally picks up from the beginning of April.

“However, this year we have seen a dramatic surge in visitor numbers and golf ball hits since the start of the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta and Sergio Garcia’s historic win.”

He added: “There has been a direct correlation between the start of the Masters and demand for our range facility. It’s clearly inspired golf lovers and novices to pick up their clubs and get practicing at their local driving range.”

Speaking further, Peter said the renewed interest in the sport has also helped boost the company’s golf academy.

He continued: “[Our academy] has continued to perform well, particular growth has been seen in the junior academy. We have expanded the full-time team of PGA qualified coaches to seven who are busy seven days a week.”
