Electrical training provider continues to bolster its team
Electrical power training specialist, The Faraday Training Centre Ltd has appointed a new lead tutor during a period of rapid growth.
Middlesbrough-based The Faraday Training Centre Ltd has bolstered its expertise further with the appointment of George Harpham, in the role of lead tutor.
George will provide a range of electrical training to clients in a variety of industries including oil and gas, marine and offshore, engineering and construction, chemical, government and the public sector, both in the UK and internationally.
The Faraday Training Centre Ltd forms part of The Faraday Training Group, an international electrical training provider combining of purpose built facilities in Teesside and Limassol, Cyprus, provides an extensive range of electrical power training courses including low voltage, high voltage, electrical protection, testing courses and marine and offshore courses.
George has 20 years’ experience working within heavy industry, having held roles as an electrical maintenance engineer; electrical service engineer; and senior electrical engineer.
These positions encompassed all functional aspects of electrical work, including high and low voltage switchgear up to 132KV, various types of motors and generators, transformers, electronic power equipment. George also managed the facilitation of electrical loading studies, motor starting studies, fault level calculations, protection relay studies and arc flash studies. In addition, he was responsible for all functional aspects of electrical work, performed all HV, MV and LV switching activities, and developed the HV switching plans and provided electrical training and guidance.
His previous responsibilities have also included providing front line support for customers in the event of breakdowns, resolving technical issues and working on a wide and diverse range of applications and engineering environments.
George has a BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Northumbria University and an MSc Electrical Power from Newcastle University.
George’s appointment comes at a time of rapid growth for The Faraday Training Centre Ltd with the company recently employing two new lecturers and three lead tutors who will deliver the company’s expanding range of courses.
This year, The Faraday Training Group has also launched several new courses including: a Hybrid Electrical Safety Awareness course; Up-Skilling, which aims to enhance the skills of those who work within the electrical sector and was established in response to the growing demand for multi-skilled electrical technicians; three new EAL low voltage courses; and a Refresher in the Safe Operation of Offshore/Maritime High Voltage Power Systems course.
The company has also announced its plans to move to the Wilton Centre, Redcar by September 2017. The move will see The Faraday Training Centre almost double its existing training and office space to a 4000m² facility which offers three purpose-designed practical areas. The move is also anticipated to create up to six additional lecturing jobs.
