Inside The Slate Yard, Salford

Legal & General launches phase one of The Slate Yard in Salford

Professional services giant Legal & General (L&G) has launched part of its new residential scheme on the banks of the River Irwell in Salford.

The Slate Yard development, which represents L&G’s first-ever build-to-rent (BTR) project, is located on Stanley Street and forms part of English Cities Fund’s wider New Bailey regeneration drive.

The scheme includes 225 units to be delivered across two phases. The first, comprising 90 apartments, has now been launched to market.

L&G’s new service proposition at The Slate Yard will give rental customers access to a 24-7 onsite team, who help with everything from emergencies to deliveries and residents’ events.

Legal & General Investment Management Real Assets’ BTR fund manager, Dan Batterton, said: “We want to provide a new standard of rental accommodation that offers a positive lifestyle choice for elective renters.

“At The Slate Yard we have been able to offer significantly reduced living costs because of economies of scale, which a private landlord just wouldn’t be able to do.”

He added: “The improved service proposition and flexible leases have already attracted a wide range of occupants.”

Manchester property management firm urbanbubble will operate The Slate Yard.

Tina Clinton, urbanbubble’s head of BTR, commented: “We are experiencing significant interest in The Slate Yard and have rental customers signed up to the scheme who are now getting ready to move in this week.

“At urbanbubble we are here to support residents, support them with their move and their tenancy and look after the building, while creating a sense of community and a fun place to live for everyone who has a home at The Slate Yard.”
