Firstnet completes multi-million-pound investment

Firstnet Solutions, the Leeds-based IT services company, has completed a multi-million-pound investment with the opening of the city’s first dedicated workplace recovery facility alongside a purpose-built data centre, soon to be certified as Tier 3.

Firstnet clients will have immediate access to office space designed specifically for workplace recovery, facilitating relocation to mitigate the business impact of emergencies such as floods or fires. It is now available in addition to the recently completed data centre which gives Firstnet clients the benefits of leading-edge technology to co-locate their IT infrastructure. The Tier Certification framework is recognised as the global benchmark for quality and best practice in data centre design, construction and operations.

Managing director of Firstnet Solutions, David Cusworth, said:

“Last month we invited clients to a preview of our new data centre and workplace recovery facility. The positive feedback was exceptional. They are now fully operational and available for organisations to deploy. This investment has dramatically increased Firstnet’s capacity and capability. Our workplace recovery suite comprises over 100 desks. It will be particularly beneficial to businesses in and around Leeds – previously their nearest dedicated facility was just outside Halifax, so in the event of an emergency, our Leeds clients have a far more palatable solution.

The data centre is expected to generate over 100 jobs. It offers the latest co-location and cloud solutions alongside disaster recovery and back-up within a comprehensive portfolio of services. In common with other Tier 3 data centres in the UK, it features multiple redundant connections and multiple standby servers as well as enhanced levels of physical security. Following the recent ransomware attacks, organisations throughout the UK have been reviewing their data security and Firstnet is now positioned to offer them a service capability which is unrivalled in the North of England.

Unlike most other co-location facilities, we also offer a managed service wrap. This means that, should our clients’ hardware fail, we can be on-hand to restore services quickly, often before they even arrive at the data centre.“
