Lancashire entrepreneurs establish new data analysis company

A new company offering data, algorithm generation, software and machine learning services has just officially launched in Lancaster.

Miralis Data will aim to help businesses and organisations solve various challenges through data analytics, algorithm development, simulation, modelling, artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The firm said that by creating bespoke algorithms, it will work to find efficiencies in data sets and tackle obstacles ranging from logistics issues for transport companies to improving sales for ecommerce sites and helping healthcare providers make cost savings.

Miralis Data has been founded by Dr Will Maden and Michael Gibson with the help of Dr Chris Savage, Dr Murat Gunal and Professors David Corne and Richard Eglese.

Since its launch, the business has helped one client achieve 11% efficiency savings across a 100-strong fleet of HGVs and another save £2.5m in an acquisition.

A number of regional and national businesses are among Miralis Data’s growing client base, including Co-Op Group, Europcar, British Car Auctions, Routemonkey and Marketing Lancashire.

Michael Gibson, a non-executive director at Lancaster-based agency Hotfoot Design, is commercial director of the new venture.

He said: “I’m delighted to be launching the project with Dr Will Maden, he is the data genius behind Miralis.

“His 14 years at the forefront of delivering data analysis and the resulting improvements for companies is a superb foundation for the company.”

He continued: “Already before the official launch we have been able to make an incredible impact for several huge brands. There is endless potential now for machine learning and it is very exciting to have a Lancashire-based business at the forefront of this industry.”
