Crowne Plaza Leeds city centre hotel completes £4.5m upgrade

A hotel located in Leeds city centre has unveiled the results of a £4.5m refurbishment programme.

The Crowne Plaza Leeds, on Wellington Street, has been undergoing the multi-million-pound makeover since February of this year.

The investment has seen the creation of a new independent bar and restaurant, a function bar, 135 newly refurbished bedrooms - including the creation of Club rooms and new suites - and more than £25k of new technology installed across its renovated meeting rooms.

The refurbishment also features a new Club-level lounge, offering guests exclusive access to complimentary drinks and canapes, as well as new-looks for the lobby, mezzanine and the grand staircase, and a break-out area for meetings and events use.

Lynda Coaley, general manager at the Crowne Plaza Leeds, said: “We’re thrilled with the results of our dramatic refurbishment. The investment has breathed new life into the hotel and the city’s tourism and leisure offering, too.

“With the city vastly expanding over the next few years, in line with Leeds running for Capital of Culture in 2023, it’s important that we establish ourselves as a high quality place to stay and we’re confident that by investing in the hotel to this level, we’ve done just that.

“Both corporate and leisure guests are set to benefit, and in turn, Leeds as a city will benefit too.”

Jennifer Young, head of visitor economy and inward investment at Visit Leeds, added: “It’s fantastic to see the results of such a major investment in the Crowne Plaza Leeds.

“The hotel is going from strength-to-strength and this multi-million pound makeover will only serve to reinforce their position as one of our city’s most prominent and popular hotels.”

Nicholas Northam, managing director for the UK division of Interstate Europe Hotels & Resorts – the hotel management company that operates the Crowne Plaza Leeds, also commented: “Leeds is a really vibrant, buzzing city at present, and the Crowne Plaza Leeds’ new look really embodies that feel.

“We’re proud to see the team there reaping the rewards of their hard work and we’re sure the results of the hotel’s refurbishment will be well received across the city and beyond.”
