Durham’s Kromek helps keep President Trump safe during NATO Security Summit

Security hardware manufactured by radiation detection technology company Kromek was deployed during President Donald Trump’s recent visit to Brussels.

The Durham company’s generation standalone radiation detector, D3S-ID, was deployed by the European Commission Counter Terrorism Unit of Directorate General for Home Affairs during the NATO Security Summit, attended by Mr Trump last month.

The European Commission, along with Belgian Federal Police officers, deployed D3S-ID at different locations including Brussels airport and the European Council headquarters.

Kromek was informed that the deployment was successful and its radiation detection systems performed well and met the desired high standards for accuracy and efficiency.

Dr Arnab Basu, Chief Executive Officer of Kromek, said: “We are delighted to be part of the security system that was deployed during President Trump’s visit to Brussels.

“Specifically, we were pleased that the deployment was successful and that our detectors achieved the necessary high standards.

“We look forward to continuing our work with the European Commission, DARPA and other national law enforcement agencies to deploy our best-of-breed radiation detectors to protect people and property.”
