The NextEnergy Solar Fund has announced it is to purchase a portfolio of operating solar plants as the UK’s impressive growth in renewable energy continues apace.
The fund, which is based in Guernsey but has a footing in London, has entered into a share purchase agreement to acquire three plants in Barnby, Nottinghamshire; Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire, and Wickfield in Wiltshire.
Combined the three plants boasts a total of 14.9MWp, or megawatt peak, which rates the total potential capacity for a solar power plant, and all were connected up to the grid in March of this year.
Elsewhere, the fund has also agreed a share purchase agreement to acquire the Essex-based Birch CIC project, which totals 1.7MWp, and has agreed a separate agreement to purchase a portfolio of four development projects at unnamed locations totalling 59.9MWp.
It now means NextEnergy Solar Fund, which floated back in April 2014, now has over 48 assets in its portfolio totalling 483 MWp.
