£30m apartment scheme approved for Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle area

Plans for a £30m mixed-use apartment scheme in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle area have been given the go-ahead.

City planners this week (June 13) approved a project to construct a 145-unit residential property to the north of Parliament Street, between Grafton Street and Caryl Street.

Spread across more than 20,000 sq ft, the Falconer Chester Hall-designed scheme will comprise 72 one-bedroom and 73 two-bedroom apartments, along with a shared terrace, broad entrance lobby and ground-floor commercial space.

Manchester-based Zerum Planning Consultants led the planning application.

Nikki Sills, associate director at Zerum, commented: “The site currently offers little vitality to the area. It’s occupied by a low-grade roofing yard with an associated warehouse and office building that’s set to be demolished.

“The sale of the site for development will enable the existing company to utilise the sums received to expand their business in a more appropriate location.”

She added: “The new apartment block will not only provide new homes for people but it will also include a commercial unit on the ground floor, which will provide a modern outlet for a commercial tenant.”

Speaking further, Nikki said that vendors for the commercial space are currently being considered.
