Four firms on board with new £3.4m Durham incubator space

Durham city centre’s flagship office space and business incubator Salvus House is proving a hit with local firms after opening six months ago.

Acquired by Business Durham on behalf of Durham County Council, the £3.4m space is now home to companies hailing from the engineering, communications and digital design industries.

The four new tenants include structural engineering and project management firm Building Design (Northern) Ltd, writing and editing company Concision, Consulting engineers TGA and digital design firm Discovery Design.

Salvus House is a partnership between Durham County Council, Durham University and New College Durham to support new and established businesses who wish to locate to Durham City.

Simon Goon, Business Durham managing director, said: “Salvus House is already establishing a reputation as the location of choice for new and established businesses seeking the highest quality office accommodation in the North East with superb connectivity and infrastructure.”

Concision CEO Daniel Roe commented: “Since moving into Salvus House, we have seized significant opportunities as consultants helping businesses think about how they communicate themselves not just through writing but also through strategy.

“We’re glad to be based at Salvus House. The people who work for us are all writers first and foremost, and expanding our team is an important part of delivering value to our clients.”

Councillor Carl Marshall, the newly elected Durham County Council Cabinet member for economic regeneration, said: “The location has proved popular with businesses due to its close proximity to Durham rail station and we are pleased that it is already playing a key role in bringing investment and more jobs to the region.

“We are now looking forward to seeing more companies come to Salvus House and flourish in their new environment.”
