This startup has raised £755k in seed funding and wants to help your business close more sales

Heresy, the London-based startup that has developed an analytics platform for salespeople, has raised £755k of seed funding and attracted some major investors in the process.

The company, which is headed up by former Managing Director for EMEA at Stack Overflow, has attracted investment from LAUNCHHub Ventures, AngelList, Seedcamp and the London Co-Investment Fund.

Heresy’s workflow and analytics platform has been developed for sales teams and salespeople to join together disparate sales efforts and leads, providing data-driven and visualised insights which the startup claims can help to boost sales growth.

Thought up by former Stack Overflow exec Dimitar Stanimiroff, Heresy claims to go beyond outdated and cumbersome sales software by analysing data such as the size of an individual sales opportunity, position in the sales pipeline and other factors to determine how likely the sale is likely to fall through.

Touching on the inspiration behind the platform, Stanimiroff said that the idea came about after considering how to ensure that Stack Overflow’s rapidly scaling sales teams remained on the same page and were learning from each other’s mistakes.

He explained: “The need for Heresy became obvious during my time as MD for EMEA at Stack Overflow.

“I was looking for a way to keep our rapidly growing sales team aligned and to ensure team members were collaborating, and learning from each others’ mistakes and successes.”

An internal tool doing just that followed, drawing on Stanimiroff’s experience of Agile software development and the latest sales techniques, expertise which has now flowed into his latest endeavour.

Now the startup will look to continue to grow out its platform thanks to the latest funding and has its sights set on further European expansion.

Seedcamp partner, Carlos Espinal, has high hopes for the business, which he said matches the London-based investor’s profile of ‘backing experienced founders’ who are working problems they have first-hand experience with.

He added: “Dimitar’s capabilities, both as a founder and an operator, are more than proven and we are excited to see Heresy address a stale market in desperate need of innovation.”

Heresy is currently in open access as part of its Beta release.
