Sales success for island development

New homes on the Isle of Wight from five star housebuilder David Wilson Homes have proved popular with a wide range of buyers.

More than 50 per cent of homes at Riverside Park at Whippingham in East Cowes have been reserved and sales director Michelle Storer said summer events such as the Isle of Wight Festival and Cowes Week further boost the idea of island living.

“We knew that homes at Riverside would be popular after sales success at our Newport development in recent years and we’re delighted that the new homes are proving just as big a hit with buyers on the Isle of Wight and those moving from further afield.”

She said the location in East Cowes is popular with first time buyers, those moving up the housing ladder and investors, with demand particularly high at the moment.

“New homes on the island are always highly sought-after, particularly with those already living in on the Isle of Wight, but even we have been surprised by the speed in which homes have been snapped up in recent weeks.”

Michelle said the Government’s Help to Buy scheme had helped a number of people reserving a home with both first time buyers and those moving up the housing ladder taking advantage of the benefits.

Help to Buy allows any homebuyer to secure a brand new home under the value of £600,000 with just a five per cent deposit.

The Government lends the buyer 20 per cent of the value of the property in the form of an interest free equity loan for five years, meaning that buyers then gain access to some of the great mortgage rates currently available with just a 75 per cent mortgage.

Current availability at Riverside includes two bedroom Stevenson and Winton designs priced from £175,000 and the three bedroom Archford design which costs from £219,995.
