County Durham charity receives fundraising boost

A County Durham day service programme aimed at individuals with learning disabilities and mental health issues has been gifted £1,000.

Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC based at The Old Fire Station in Ferryhill was given the money by Persimmon Homes Durham through the company’s Community Champions scheme.

The national match-funding programme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment for local people. The funding will be used by Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC to deliver a series of art therapy workshops. The sessions will enable adults to express themselves creatively in a safe environment and promotes self development and discovery.

Louise Killip, Service Manager for Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC, said: “I wish to thank Persimmon Homes Durham for this generous donation. This funding will make a huge difference to our service and will provide us with the opportunity to develop the valuable work we do with our members.”

Christine Cooper, sales and marketing director for Persimmon Homes Durham, said: “This month we are delighted to donate to Endeavour Woodcrafts CIC. They provide a day service for the most vulnerable individuals within our community and help them to gain many new skills, independence, confidence and self worth. It is for these reasons that we are more than happy to be supporting them.”
