Screening service trebles Sheffield HQ

SHEFFIELD’S Preventx, which conducts more than 150,000 health screenings a year, has tripled its premises with a move to Meadowhall Business Park.

The relocation for Preventx, which offers world class remote laboratory solutions and public screening services, marks the beginning of a new phase in the development and expansion of the organisation.

Preventx works with local authorities and NHS Trusts to deliver integrated screening services to 87% of England and is the vanguard of healthcare analysis and testing innovation and technology.

The company is currently finalising the state-of the-art testing and analysis facilities at Meadowhall Business Park.

“This is an exciting time for us,” said Tim Alston, technical director at Preventx. “The new move has allowed our testing facilities to be upgraded and the bigger premises means we can be even more efficient and streamlined and have room to grow.

“We will be looking at recruiting extra staff on top of our current team of 10.

“As the market leaders in the field, we are currently dealing with more than 150,000 tests a year, added Tim, “but are expecting this number to rise going forward.”

Preventx, previously located at Sheffield Bioincubator, now occupies 7,500 sq ft on the ground and first floor in Block 5 at ARBA Group’s multi-million pound refurbishment scheme, Meadowhall Business Park.

Tim added: “We wanted a Sheffield location in an up and coming area, near to large businesses but also great transport links. We are already dealing with around 350,000 postal items a year – so to be located near to Royal Mail was also key for us.”

The company, set up in 2007, joins construction giant NG Bailey, growing project management/surveying practice Auburn Ainsley Limited and photography and makeover studio Chique Photography, Eaton Commercial Property Consultants Ltd, Galaxy Insulation and Dry Lining (Holdings) Limited and North Midlands Construction Plc at the popular business park.

The 70,000 sq ft park, located close to the new Ikea development and adjacent to Meadowhall Shopping Centre, is undergoing a full refurbishment by ARBA Group and is now being marketed by Knight Frank & Campbell & Co.

Richard Burns, director at ARBA Group, said: “We welcome Preventx to Meadowhall Business Park.

“We were aware of the site’s potential value from the outset and have invested heavily to make the accommodation as flexible and modern as possible, and for businesses like Preventx, they can tailor the accommodation to their growing needs.”

The full refurbishment programme of the five buildings is well underway to bring them up to modern office standard, with available suites from 1,000 sq ft to 15,000 sq ft plus on-site car parking.

Meadowhall Business Park is located less than one mile from junction 34 of the M1, two miles from Junction 33 of the M1, within six miles of the M1/M18 intersection and 25 miles of the M1/M62 intersection.

New developments at Meadowhall include the construction of a new 370,000 sq ft Ikea superstore - due to open end of summer 2017, the £300 million expansion of Meadowhall Shopping Centre, the completion of supercar showrooms for Porsche, Mercedes Benz and BMW. This has been complemented by announcements from Boeing, Rolls Royce and McLaren who are all opening bases nearby.

ARBA Group is a property development specialist and asset manager with projects covering the East Midlands and Yorkshire and boasting more than 70 years of industry experience.
