EXACT ABACUS RECORDS BUMPER GROWTH AND INVESTS IN INNOVATION
Lancashire-based ERP software, eCommerce and fulfilment specialist, Exact Abacus has reported strong turnover growth after substantial expansion of their distribution facilities and a host of new contracts.
The company opened a second warehouse at their Chorley site last March, which increased dispatch capacity to over 5,000 parcels per day, much of which is driven by the addition of 34 new clients including online retailers such as Red Candy, Penguin Random House and Rubik’s Brand.
This year has already seen an extension of reach with over 25,000 sq ft of warehousing capacity added through a network of fulfilment partners operating on the company’s innovative IT platform. This programme will be accelerated over the next 18 months to provide international coverage and a host of value-added services.
The Exact Abacus warehouse team dispatched more than one million items during 2016, hitting a same day dispatch service level in excess of 99 per cent. Approximately 380,000 of the orders processed were destined for customers overseas.
In addition, the company has invested in people with increased focus on management training and 12 new hires so far this year. These include roles across HR, business development, customer services, software development and operations.
The company also created a new Head of Innovation position that was filled earlier this year by Austin Waddecar. Austin and his research team are exploring new technologies and development trends such as artificial intelligence and voice control to future-proof the software platform.
Sales and Marketing Director, Lee Thompson, explains: “We are really pleased with the way the year started off and have ambitious growth targets. Success is due to our passion for innovation and customer care, whilst our proposition constantly evolves in reaction to the demands of the online retailers we work with.
“A lot of clients come to us with a requirement for outsourced fulfilment but then take advantage of our wider services such as eCommerce, freight forwarding and process engineering. Others want a fully integrated, custom ecommerce and ERP solution with multi-channel and international sales capabilities. Whatever they need us for, our proven ability and experience in the sector means that we can help upscale and improve the efficiency of their operation so that they can focus on high-value activity such as product sourcing, marketing and business growth.”
