Jesmond’s Spy Bar undergoes £400k makeover
Spy Bar in Jesmond has undergone a six-figure makeover.
Leisure operator Cairn Group invested £400k to transform the venue by creating additional floor space and updating both interior and exterior areas.
The refurb included an expansion of the site’s lounge bar, which now features rustic décor with bare brick walls, dark wood tables and metal chairs, alongside burnt orange leather booth seating and new light fittings.
To improve Spy Bar’s offer for students and football fans, its old TV screens have been replaced with 60-inch plasma screens.
The venue’s outdoor drinking and dining terrace, meanwhile, has been overhauled with new furniture in place of the former weathered pub-style tables, including cushioned sofas and seats set under heat lamps and parasols.
Spy Bar general manager Daniel Ormonde said: “Works are complete and we have opened our doors just in time for the warmer weather and our busiest time of the year – being on the sunny side of Osborne Road.
“It’s been great to see the positive reaction of regular visitors so far to our new look and enhancements in their favourite bar.”
He continued: “Thanks to our new furniture and layout, we can welcome more customers, who can take advantage of our plasma TVs and enjoy the updated food and drink offerings right in the heart of Jesmond.
“We do everything big; whether it’s food or the screens where we show live sports, and our extensive craft ale menu is certainly no different.”
