New homes development in Scarborough injects £7.5m investment in local area

A new homes development in Middle Deepdale, Scarborough, is providing a community investment of £7.5m.

The fund has already spent £3m on a link road between the A165 and the A64, and a further £4.5m has been allocated to currently proposed community needs in amenities, transport, health and education.

The 10 to 15 year lifetime of the development involves an array of trigger points.

Among these include a £3m investment towards highways including a new bridge, £400k allocated for bus services and transport and £2.75m proposed towards a new primary school.

The funding is part of the original planning application for the housebuilder Kebbell Homes and Keepmoat’s housing developments at the site located in Middle Deepdale.

Kebbell Homes is currently constructing phase two of the scheme called Cornelian Fields.

Linda Tillisch, sales manager at Kebbell Homes’ Northern Region, said: “Investing in local areas is a large and important part of any new housing scheme. We pride ourselves on our commitment to supporting the communities in and around our developments.

“We will be contributing to Scarborough not only through the financial agreements, but also through the jobs we create for local people and the luxurious homes we build.”

Kebbell Homes i also provided resources for trainee tradespeople at the development.

The housebuilder helped set up a ‘Skills Village’ at Cornelian Fields which provides the resources and facilities to deliver the course. The trainees then have the chance towork in the Skills Village at the site, to gain hands-on experience.

The Skills Village was launched with the aim to help young people develop the required skills, gain experience and necessary knowledge within the construction industry thereby helping them into jobs in the future.

The skills village was built by Scarborough Borough Council on land loaned by Kebbell Homes.

Linda continued: “Thanks to Kebbell, the practical days at Cornelian Fields provide the trainees with invaluable experience, which will support and help them develop skills for their future careers within the industry.”
