Shopping centre raises thousands for ONE GREAT DAY!

A local shopping centre in Barnsley has raised almost £7,000 with their ONE GREAT DAY fundraising campaign, featuring a Tandem Skydive, a charity golf day and various collections all in support of children’s charities, Great Ormond Street Hospital and South Yorkshire’s Cash for Kids.

Steph Higham, Aaron Powell and Dan Hinchcliffe from the Alhambra Shopping Centre leaped 15,000 ft. from a plane at Hibalstow Airfield, raising £1,216.86.

One Great Golf Day at Sandhill Golf Club in Barnsley raised a staggering £5,105.57 with 9 teams taking part this year. 15 of the 18 holes were sponsored by local businesses and contractors to the Alhambra and a special thank you goes to Lee Baron, Alhambra’s managing agents, for their generous contribution.

These two events along with collections throughout the centre has seen the Alhambra raise a grand total of £6,519.52 for the two fantastic children’s charities.

Steph Higham, Alhambra Shopping Centre Marketing Manager said: “The Skydive was nerve racking but an amazing experience and worth every bit of fear to raise such a significant amount for these 2 deserving charities.”

“It’s fantastic to see our contractors and local companies backing our fundraising efforts and we are very thankful to all of them for their help and support which has seen a record year of fundraising for us during our ONE GREAT DAY events.”

Established in 2014, One Great Day has so far raised over £250,000 for more than 50 different children’s charities throughout the UK. 2017 has seen 140 shopping centres across the UK take part in ONE GREAT DAY.
