North Petherton Rugby Club kitted out by housebuilder
A local rugby club has been given £800 by Persimmon Homes helping to fund a new kit for their players.
North Petherton Rugby Football Club, which was established in 1893, has a thriving youth section containing ten different age groups. The club is currently fundraising to replace match shirts for their players in the Mini and Junior divisions.
The £800 donation, which comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champion scheme gives away up to £1,000 to two good causes every month.
Sharon Sweet, project officer at North Petherton Rugby Football Club, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon for this funding. Match day shirts help the children look smart and help them to feel a sense of belonging to their team and club.
“Keeping children fit and active is vital to promote health and wellbeing at an early age. Rugby is a great sport to get involved in, helping young people learn teamwork skills, initiative and make new friends.”
The club also runs senior and ladies rugby teams, offering something for all ages.
Steve Roche, managing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “We are delighted to help fund North Petherton Rugby Football Club’s youth kit.
“They provide great opportunities for people in the local area and it’s great that we are able to reward their contribution to the community.”
