Mobile Mini helps send GB player to the American Football Women’s World Championship

Mobile Mini, a leading hirer of portable accommodation and secure storage containers, with its UK headquarters in Stockton on Tees, has helped send a talented athlete to the American Football Women’s World Championship in Canada.

The Company, which has 16 branches nationwide, including branches in the North East at Middlesbrough and Sunderland, has sponsored the Manager of its Nottingham branch, Laura Moore, helping her to take part in the first WWC to be staged outside of Europe.

The 33-year-old Outside Linebacker, who is one of the most capped members of Great Britain’s Women’s American Football team, will be jetting off with her team mates to take on the best players in the world in the week-long tournament.

As is often the case with women’s sport, the team required significant funding for the trip to cover the cost of players’ fees, flights, accommodation and three pre-camp residentials among other things.

“I spoke to the Managing Director, Chris Morgan, and our Regional Director, Andrew Thompson, about the team, its ethos and how great it will be to play at the WWC and I was thrilled when they offered to sponsor me,” said Laura.

“It is costing over £100,000 for the whole team to play at the tournament and it’s fair to say receiving this funding from Mobile Mini is like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, as the financial burden has been taken away from me.

“I hope I can repay them by bringing back a medal.”

Speaking about the decision to support Laura, Chris Morgan, said: “Mobile Mini is delighted to be sponsoring Laura in her pursuit of sporting success.

“Laura and her fellow players are the perfect example of what we strive to achieve as a Company, a successful team all working together to achieve the same goals, and we’re looking forward to seeing their achievements at the tournament.”

Taking place between June 24 to June 30, in Langley, British Columbia, the competition consists of six nations: hosts, Canada; reigning World champions, USA; Great Britain; Finland; Australia and Mexico.

Team GB, seeded fourth, are set to open the tournament against Finland and will be looking to get their revenge on the side who beat them in the final of the 2015 Women’s European Championships. They will then play two more matches, with the game against Australia being the first ever in women’s American football.

The IFAF 2017 Women’s World Championships, will be available to watch online from http://footballcanada.com.
