Jumping for joy to be leading the way
A Site Manager at a development in Morpeth, has become one of a select few to be recognised as among the best in the business.
Steve Bellamy, from Thornley in County Durham, is overseeing the construction of new properties at Linden Homes’ Saint George development and has received a special Quality Award as part of the National House Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.
Now in its 37th year, the awards – organised by the UK’s leading new homes warranty insurance provider - specifically celebrate the contribution a Site Manager makes to a development and recognises those who achieve the highest standards in house building nationally.
NHBC inspectors began judging for the current awards 18 months ago, assessing managers against stringent criteria across 44 areas of site management – including technical knowledge, consistency in the build process and quality control procedures.
More than 16,000 competed for the awards, highlighting Quality Award winners like Steve, as among the best in their profession. He will now go on to compete for a Seal of Excellence and Regional Award in the category, with the Supreme Award Winners announced at a gala ceremony in January 2018.
Steve said: “I’m delighted to have my work recognised in this way but would also like to thank my team for all of their hard work on this ambitious and exciting development.
“At Saint George, we are constructing 28 different and unique house types and within these we have a number of other bespoke variations and layouts. This means that our communication, workmanship and attention to detail has to be exemplary. I see this personal commendation - which has been awarded by judges who have visited our site on a number of occasions – as further evidence of the exceptional standards and quality that we are achieving here.”
The Saint George development is just a mile from the centre of Morpeth and offers buyers a wide selection of new homes from two bedroom semi-detached properties – ideal for first time buyers - to expansive, detached, five bedroom executive homes.
Linden Homes, which is committed to improving the choice and quality available to North East house buyers, is also building at The Fairways in Morpeth, Trilogy I in Gateshead, The Aspens in Birtley and at North Farm in Blyth.
