You will soon be able to order food directly from TripAdvisor with Deliveroo

Food delivery platform Deliveroo has inked a deal with global travel site TripAdvisor to provide food deliveries through its restaurant listings.

On a day likely to be dominated by the release of the Taylor Report into employment practices in the gig economy, the London-headquartered on-demand food delivery platform has revealed the partnership which will see food orders at 20,000 of its restaurant partners rolled out on TripAdvisor in 12 countries.

Users of the travel website in countries including the UK, Ireland, France, the UAE, Singapore and Australia, will be presented with an ‘Order Online’ button allowing them to order directly from restaurants offering Deliveroo orders in over 140 world cities.

Deliveroo Founder Will Shu, who is Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Deliveroo, said: “At Deliveroo we’re always looking for new ways to bring great food to people’s doors.

“We’re excited to partner with TripAdvisor to make it even easier for our customers to order delicious food from the best local restaurants, wherever they are in the world.”

Bertrand Jelensperger, Senior Vice President, TripAdvisor Restaurants said the partnership would help the travel website’s goal of becoming a ‘one-stop-shop’ for diners, providing users with the ability to read reviews, reserve a table and place on order all through its platform.

He commented: “Through this partnership with Deliveroo, we aim to give our restaurant listings a new way to engage with the TripAdvisor community – both at home and on-the-go.

“TripAdvisor is already a highly effective marketing platform for restaurants, and new services like food delivery create incremental value for both businesses as well as consumers.”

Of course, the employment conditions of the couriers delivering customer orders from the platform in the UK remains to be seen, with the government set to announce plans to introduce more protections for so-called gig economy workers following the release of the wide-ranging Taylor Report today.
