Biffa bolsters hazardous waste offering in the Midlands

Leading waste management firm Biffa has boosted its hazardous waste offering in the Midlands region with the addition of new facilities and services, following its acquisitions of Enviroco and PHS Group. Following a year’s integration period post-acquisition, Biffa has boosted its specialist services and now has four dedicated facilities across the Midlands region.

Biffa can now provide local businesses with assistance for a range of hazardous waste scenarios across the region including a fleet of custom-converted vans which deal with the safe transportation of hazardous materials, WEEE Collections for businesses and HazResponse, a 24-hour emergency response service designed to minimise the impact of spillage incidents.

One of these facilities also specialises in secure product disposal, a safe and professional way to deal with and destroy confidential, non-hazardous waste.

Biffa’s acquisition of the chemical treatment businesses, PHS Group and Sheffield-based Enviroco in 2015, was part of a strategic decision by Biffa to enhance its competitive position in the high growth area of the collection and disposal of hazardous waste.

With both businesses now fully integrated into Biffa’s hazardous waste division, Biffa is now one of the UK’s leading hazardous waste service providers.
