Engineering firm sees Aycliffe move as fertile land for scaleup

Engineering consultancy M5tec has moved to a larger office space in County Durham to facilitate its ongoing growth.

Originally based at the Old Brewery Business Centre in Castle Eden, m5tec started out with a team of three.

Having more than tripled in size in three years, its move to a larger office space at the Parson Court development in Newton Aycliffe provides ample space for the company’s ten employees, and room to continue expanding.

Founded by a group of experienced engineers in 2014, M5tec Ltd is a provider of Engineering Technical Services to high assurance industries worldwide such as, Marine Mining, Subsea & Offshore, Nuclear, and Oil & Gas, as well as General Engineering

M5tec has matched its growth in personnel with increased capabilities, having recently being awarded ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, BS OHSAS 18001:2007, and SSIP accreditation.

The company is a signatory of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority’s (NDA) Supply Chain Charter and a participating member of the NDA mentor scheme, and it was recently awarded a contract from its existing client Terex MHPS (UK) Ltd for the design and substantiation of a material handling crane for use within the nuclear decommissioning environment.

M5tec Operations Director Carl Jones said: “Moving to a larger business premises allows us to scale-up our operation, in terms people and the services we offer our clients.

“When we first started the business we wanted to provide the same level of service as established firms, but with a much leaner business model. Our rate of growth shows this is working.

“In addition to growing our headcount we are delighted to have been accredited against a number of international standards, and cemented our reputation in the nuclear decommissioning market. We are now exploring how our expertise can benefit clients in the marine mining sector.”

Paul Livingstone, Business Development Manager at NOF Energy, said: “M5tec’s growth shows the health of engineering in the North of England and how businesses based here can cater to the needs of clients throughout the UK and globally.

“The company’s success in multiple energy-related markets is an example of how companies in the supply chain can take engineering principles and expertise, and provide them across a diverse range of sectors.”
