Sibling restaurateurs behind The Barbary to launch a coffee house at Neal's Yard
Layo and Zoë Paskin, the sibling restaurateurs behind some well-received eateries in the capital, have announced they are to open their first coffee house in Seven Dials this summer.
Dubbed Jacob the Angel, the English coffee house will sit adjacent to the pair’s The Barbary restaurant at 16a Neal’s Yard and will be housed within a compact 300 sq ft unit providing space for ten covers within and a small three seater outdoor area.
The venue, which will open in mid-August, will provide a daily menu serving up breakfast, lunch and dinner from its array of cakes, pastries, pies, sandwiches and seasonal salad, although the exact menu is still to be finalised.
It marks yet another new venture from the entrepreneurial brother and sister following on from The Palomar in Soho and the now defunct The End nightclub and its sister bar AKA. The pair also opened the Calabrian-themed The Barbary last summer.
Following confirmation of the new venue, Layo commented: “The opportunity to take this space in Neal’s Yard was too good to pass up.
“We love the area, full of other thriving independent restaurants and boutique shops and it struck us as the ideal location to launch something that is very different to the other catering concepts we’ve launched.
“We look forward to continue working with Shaftesbury and the Seven Dials team and we are very excited to open Jacob the Angel later this summer.”
Julia Wilkinson, Portfolio & Group Restaurant Strategy Executive at Shaftesbury, said that the property firm was ‘thrilled’ to be working with Layo and Zoë again.
She added: “Neal’s Yard was the perfect location for The Barbary and it is very special to have a second project from established restaurateurs launching in the same location.
“Independent and original debuts like Jacob the Angel and The Barbary are key to Shaftesbury’s strategy of maintaining a unique and exciting offer in the heart of the West End.”
