Skanska is bringing a pair of bronze buildings to a West End musical hotspot
Construction firm Skanska has signed on for a mixed-use scheme in London’s West End that will deliver a pair of bronze cladded buildings near the historic Tin Pan Alley on behalf of Consolidated Developments.
Sitting behind Denmark Street, the £142m scheme is set to deliver a pair of eye-catching bronze cladded buildings on St Giles High Street as well as refurbishing two listed properties at Denmark Street.
The plot has been devised by Orms Architects and received planning consent from Camden Council all the way back in November 2013, with property firm Consolidated Group recently signing off on plans to deliver a new hotel alongside an 800-seat music and events space as well as an urban gallery.
The project is aiming to boost what has previously been described as a ‘shabby’ area of the capital and draw on the musical heritage of nearby Denmark Street, previously favourite haunt of The Rolling Stones and The Sex Pistols.
According to Construction Enquirer, H Smith Engineers recently completed site clearance work which will allow Skanska to proceed with the shell and core work on the scheme, with work expected to be completed by Q1 2020.
