This startup has just raised six-figure seed funding so it can use algorithms to find your ideal flatmate
London-based flatmate matching platform, Ideal Flatmate, has raised £375k in seed funding as it continues on its noble quest to put algorithms to work ridding the world of disastrous flatshares and insufferable roommates.
The startup, which only launched properly earlier this year, has drawn funding from Bigmouthmedia Founder Steve Leach, and Greene & Co. Founder David Pollock and will now look to ramp up its marketing activities in the hunt for more users.
According to City AM, the flatmate matching platform has enjoyed explosive growth in the capital since its launch hitting 25,000 site visits per month, with a full UK launch planned for early 2018.
The startup’s platform, which has been developed in tandem with Cambridge professors, utilises a dating website-style series of questions for users with an algorithm then matching them with flatmates who they might be better suited living with.
Tom Gatzen, who co-founded the business with Rob Imonikhe, said: “The range of investors who are backing us in this round is incredibly exciting and gives us a huge amount of confidence.
“To have surpassed our initial target is also a big plus and means we can accelerate our growth plans. I can’t wait to continue to improve the site and take our idea out to a far wider audience.”
Gatzen went on to say that Ideal Flatmate would now be looking to hire a digital marketing hire, a product development lead, and a social media executive to drive its user acquisition efforts as it targets ‘fast growth’ over the next 12-18 months.
