Startups raising on Seedrs could soon be advertising their wares on the London Underground

Equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs has unveiled an exclusive partnership with advertising business Exterion Media that could see crowdfunding startups emblazoned on Tubes and trains across the capital.

The arrangement, which will be led by the startup-focused Exterion Media Ventures, will see the Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising firm working with Seedrs to promote and raise awareness of early stage brands and businesses that are crowdfunding on its platform through advertising opportunities on the Transport for London (TfL) network.

Those within Seedrs’ portfolio will also be given access to media-for-equity opportunities whereby Exterion will take an equity stake in their business in exchange for advertising and promotion through its OOH services.

Startups raising on Seedrs have already benefitted from the new partnership, which sees the advertising firm joining other Seedrs Alumni Club partners including Google, Amazon and Stripe, including recent crowd raises by smart home startup Den and social golfing app VPAR.

Den Founder, Yasser Khattak claimed that the advertising campaign on the Tube which ran in tandem with its multi-million pound crowdfunding campaign earlier in the year helped to dramatically raise awareness and the brand’s profile.

He said: “Our London Underground campaign, run through Seedrs and Exterion, played a key role in driving both investment and mass brand awareness for Den.

“We’re now getting ready to launch our products in all major retailers across the UK and are still being approached by big name brands wanting to partner with us.”

Killian Barrins, Head of Exterion Media Ventures, commented: “We’re delighted to become the exclusive OOH media partner with Seedrs, working with some of the most ambitious, fast growing companies to fuel their growth.

“This partnership makes clear our commitment to best in class media, innovation and support of the UK start-up community.”

The partnership follows the relaunch of the Seedrs Alumni Club this summer which provides portfolio companies benefit from exclusive offers and benefits packages from partners including Stripe, CharlieHR and Amazon Web Services to support their post-raise growth and development.

The crowdfunding space in general is undergoing a phase of maturation at the moment as the big platforms including Seedrs and Crowdcube grow out their knowledge sharing and support services.

Crowdcube’s launch this summer of its partner community with some major industry figures is an attempt to both promote the benefits of crowdfunding and ensure the companies which do pursue it are fully equipped to do so.
