7digital has signed a deal that could see its tech in some of the world's biggest airlines
London-based B2B music and radio provider 7digital has announced it has signed a contract with one of the major providers of in-flight media and entertainment which could see its tech rolled out across some of the world’s biggest airlines.
The business has entered into a two-year deal with Global Eagle Entertainment which will see the pair working together on in-flight music services, technology and rights issues for airlines in Global’s portfolio.
While the exact airlines are yet to be confirmed, major carriers including Air Emirates, Qatar Airways and Singapore Airlines are just some of the client’s the firm has worked with on their in-flight entertainment services.
7digital have said that the services will launch in Q4 of this year across a range of as yet unnamed territories.
The digital music company has also confirmed it has signed a three-year deal with French business Deedo SAS to launch a new streaming service across 27 markets catered towards African listeners and those in the African diaspora, which is also set to launch Q4.
Rounding out the trio of announced deals the firm has also signed an agreement with US-based Fan Label a new music fan engagement platform set for release in September, handling licensing and rights holder reporting for its preview clips.
Simon Cole, Chief Executive of 7digital, said: “We have made a strong start to the year, at a time when we were also concluding our deal with MediaMarktSaturn to acquire the 24-7 business.
“That acquisition is already making a contribution and, as previously announced, we expect it to make a significant contribution to our full year revenues.
“It is also pleasing to see, amongst our recent customer wins, a new area of business opening up with the addition of our first in-flight entertainment client.
“As the digital music industry continues to expand into new areas of current music consumption, 7digital is well positioned to be the provider to the many new services which will emerge.”
