Keswick Business Owner Shortlisted for Regional Award

Sally Fielding, the owner of Keswick-based holiday cottage letting company, Sally’s Cottages, has this week been shortlisted in the Forward Ladies North West, Wales and Ireland Regional Awards.

The nomination adds to an impressive collection for the company so far this year, with Sally’s Cottages already winning the Cumbria Family Business Awards in March. The agency was also shortlisted for the National Family Business Awards and the 2017 Luxury Goods Awards, and is a finalist in the prestigious British Travel Awards 2017.

Forward Ladies is one of the country’s leading organisations for the promotion of women in business. The regional award, sponsored by HSBC, will see 44 finalists competing over 12 categories, with the winners announced at a ceremony at The Lowry, Manchester, in October.

Sally set up Sally’s Cottages with one cottage and just £1,000 in the bank. Now, the company lets over 430 cottages and last year took bookings to the value of £6.5million. On top of that, in July this year they have reached a total of 50,000 bookings taken over the last 8 years and are close to reaching half a million followers on their popular Facebook page. This stupendous growth is part of the reason for Sally’s nomination in the SME Growth category of the Forward Ladies Awards.

“We have an amazing team working at Sally’s Cottages,” explains Sally. “From those in the office, to our cleaners, handymen, and all the other freelancers, everyone has a role to play in helping visitors to the area have the perfect Lake District holiday. It is thanks to everyone’s hard work that we are able to stand out in our field and be recognised within the industry.”

Griselda Togobo, the Managing Director of Forward Ladies, commented, “The calibre of entries has been increasing year on year, but this year we have a number of outstanding entries and here at Forward Ladies we very much look forward to celebrating and sharing their success.”

The winners of the regional awards will be entered in the final of the Forward Ladies National Awards 2017, to be announced at a ceremony in Leeds in December.
