Newcastle architects complete Riverside expansion
Sadler Brown Architects has taken on additional office space at Riverside Studios in Newcastle, following a period of sustained growth.
Winning a raft of design commissions coupled with growing its headcount from 8 to 30 in the last 2 years, the business also makes the move after acquiring Anthony Keith Architects.
The additional 1,015 sqft of office space is located next door to their current offices at Riverside Studios on the northern bank of the river Tyne, approximately half a mile to the west of Newcastle City Centre.
Sadler Brown Architects came together after a series of mergers through its Creative Director, Kevin Brown and Tony Harmieson who joined the firm in 2015. SBA is now looking to break through the £2m turnover barrier and reach 50 employees over the next two years.
One of a handful of UK Architecture practices to be delivering projects to BIM (Business Information Modelling) level three accreditation, SBA is set to have its work featured for a second time on Channel Four’s flagship Grand Designs programme later this year.
SBA also have design studios in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh, with plans for their 6th office opening expected later this summer.
Tony Harmieson, Managing Director, Sadler Brown Architects, said, “We’ve grown quickly over the last two years and won some real stand-out projects.
“Our acquisition of AKA and increase in headcount has meant we require further office space to accommodate our future expansion plans.
“The Riverside studios are an ideal location for us and the new premises will allow us to bring everyone together under one roof at the same time create space for our future ambitions.
“We are extremely grateful to our property agents Sanderson Weatherall LLP for securing the tenancy agreement with Absolute Civil Engineering Ltd following significant interest in the property.”
Charlotte Marshall, Property Agent, Sanderson Weatherall, Newcastle, added: “We are pleased to have secured Sadler Brown Architects as tenants for Absolute Civil Engineering Ltd.
“Their office move will facilitate the company’s continued development, with the offices ideally suited for businesses requiring flexible office space.”
