Buy It Direct

West Yorkshire online retailer creates 100 jobs after expanding into new premises

Buy It Direct, one of the UK’s largest online retailers, has moved into a 120,000 sq ft warehouse in Elland, West Yorkshire, after securing a £6.75m commercial loan from HSBC.

Founded in 1999, the company outgrew its previous warehouse in Huddersfield earlier this year when limited space began to affect Buy It Direct’s capabilities to meet customer demand.

With financial backing and business support from HSBC, the move to a larger warehouse has enabled Buy It Direct to employ 100 new staff members to work in logistics, digital and customer service roles.

Mike Swift, HSBC’s South and West Yorkshire area director, said: “Buy It Direct is a great example of the type of dynamic business we are delighted to support.

“The new warehouse offers fresh market opportunity for Buy It Direct and investment in the local economy through a significant number of new jobs.”

Nick Glynne, managing director of Buy It Direct, added: “This fantastic new facility allows us to meet customer demand and gives us the ability to grow our business.

“Despite the problems caused by Brexit, we are very positive about the future for the business.”

The deal was completed by HSBC’s David Logan, Corporate Director and Ash Khan, Corporate Bank Manager.
