Worldwide praise for North East IT gadget

A DEVICE invented by a North East entrepreneur to safeguard against human error in the IT industry is winning praise from all over the world.

SergeantClip is a network and infrastructure cable management system, which is set to save companies millions of pounds in downtime and loss of service by removing the risk of engineers mistakenly unplugging the wrong cables.

Designed by Wallsend inventor Mark Costigan, SergeantClip has been snapped up by some of the world’s leading organisations including NASA, Google and Amazon.

It has also won praise from engineers and experts from across the globe as well as receiving rave reviews from leading IT journalists and bloggers.

Among the satisfied customers is Crystal Sutton at Kansas University Medical Centre in the USA, who described the device as a ‘life saver’.

“Our network technicians are loving the end result of this product, it has been a life saver in the upgrade project we have been engaged in over the last several months.”

And it is a sentiment shared by Matthew Norwood, an engineer at Tennessee IT solutions provider BEDROC.

“The SergeantClips performed wonderfully with my wiring closet swap outs. It saved us a tremendous amount of time,” he said. “I am very pleased with the product and will continue to use it going forward as well as recommend it to others.”

As well as proving a hit in the USA, SergeantClip has also won fans closer to home in the UK.

Paul Dougherty, director at Blaydon-based North East Time Recorders Ltd is also a fan.

“After years of patching cables from here, there and everywhere, we eventually got round to installing a new network,” he said. “Our biggest problem was still people messing about with patch leads, but this was resolved with the clips.

“It saved us time and money and massively decreased our down time. It’s a superb and innovative product.”

The SergeantClip is designed to slip around cables, making it simple and straightforward to plug them back into the right space, and making it impossible for engineers to accidentally plug them into the wrong port.

Mr Costigan’s long term hope is that the use of SergeantClip – which is manufactured in the UK – will eventually become standard practice for all networking and cabling installations.
