Multi-million-pound Yorkshire business makes prestigious, national award shortlist

One of the UK’s fastest-growing technology companies, with headquarters in Yorkshire, has been named amongst only a handful of national businesses on the shortlist in two categories of a prestigious business awards.

Wetherby-based Oriium has been shortlisted in the 2017 Lloyds Bank National Business Awards for the Amazon Digital Business of the Year and also the Lloyds Bank Small to Medium Business of the Year.

The annual awards, in their sixteenth year, recognise ambition, ethical business practices and innovation and are seen as the most prestigious independent business awards amongst the UK business community.

Oriium was chosen from hundreds of businesses and the final winners will be announced at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in November.

Oriium provides data management, cloud solutions and application transformation services and, last year, acquired ‘add3’ to provide a greater depth of products and service capability with experts based in London.

The “Channel Only” company has been ranked as one of Deloitte UK’s top 50 fast-growing technology businesses and their MD, Chris Kiaie, has been awarded the ‘Young Director of the Year’ in the Yorkshire Business Leaders Awards for the last two years.

Established in 2007 by Chris Kiaie, Oriium’s company ethos and business strategy has resulted in significant year-on-year growth and is on target to achieve revenues of £10 million by 2018.

The business currently employs a team of 50 predominantly technical engineers and consultants, operating across a broad range of sectors and businesses including banks, retail, construction, government, NHS and many FTSE listed companies.

Chris Kiaie said: “Making this awards’ shortlist is a massive accolade and we’re incredibly proud to be named in not one, but two categories. We know that there were hundreds of superb entries so we were up against some stiff competition. Thanks to our continual innovation and development, the judges have made us a finalist and we’ll be flying the flag for Yorkshire in London later in the year at the finals.”

Tom Broughton, group brand director of the Lloyds Bank National Business Awards, said: “Given the economic uncertainty over the past year, it is inspiring more than ever to see British businesses prosper. Through a thorough and comprehensive judging process, this year’s selected finalists demonstrate exceptional quality and diversity across a range of business sectors within the UK. We are now looking forward to the next step of the process and meeting some of the finalists face-to-face.”
