Chop Chop! London Sainsbury's store trials its new click-and-collect app
Sainsbury’s is launching a trial today in London (August 11) that enables its customers to order their shopping via the Chop Chop app and pick it up just 30 minutes later in-store for no extra fee.
This will see the chain become the UK’s first supermarket offering one-hour collection options. The first trial is taking place at Sainsbury’s Pimlico store, where the service is already available.
Although the trial is only limited to the Chop Chop app on Android, customers who use it will be able to select and pay for up to 25 items for collection in 30 minutes, seven days a week.
Clodagh Moriarty, director of online at Sainsbury’s, commented: “We want to offer a customer experience that is differentiated in terms of price but also in terms of service, with customer autonomy and excellent flexibility.
“The way customers are shopping is changing as they look for faster, convenient options and we want to continue leading the way in giving them the services they need to shop whenever they want.
“It’s an exciting time for the business and we hope to see a positive response from our shoppers.”
Sainsbury’s were also the first UK supermarket retailer to introduce one-hour delivery in 2016. The Pimlico store trial will allow customers to pay via the Chop Chop app today.
